The message seems to be that the program can't reach worldcat.org
You can test this by trying to run the attached script from a terminal:

   ruby worldcat.rb

However, the WorldCat provider is currently broken anyway (it's not up
to date with the current layout of the WorldCat website). To avoid too
many problems, you should push it down to the bottom of the Provider
list under "Edit > Preferences".

Obviously, fixing the provider will be done at some point, but
development on Alexandria's been on another of its long lulls recently.
