Has anyone in the past attempted successfully to get Alexandria running under it? Has anyone in the past attempted successfully to get > Alexandria running under it? Way back, Alexandria was designed to play well on OS X, with a platform-specific user-interface and everything. That became dated, and was removed since none of the active developers used the platform. It *should* be possible to install Ruby-GNOME2 on a Mac, but I haven't seen anyone who's tried it with Alexandria. I'm the current maintainer for Alexandria, although I haven't touched the project for months due to my own computer problems (now resolved). I hope I can start putting in some bug-fixes soon. As for OS X support, I don't have access to the platform, but I could work with someone who was willing to collaborate remotely to get it up and running. - Cathal. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.11 (GNU/Linux) Comment: GnuPT 2.6.2.1 by EQUIPMENTE.DE iEYEARECAAYFAk6h2FgACgkQfMAUnRdb+8rv1QCgqNTd7t0SIeCa8syVycvR1X0u SEUAnAg/ml1fTq5zah4gAMC//g9wqd+n =KyRc -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- From kip at thevertigo.com Fri Oct 21 20:25:31 2011 From: kip at thevertigo.com (Kip Warner) Date: Fri, 21 Oct 2011 17:25:31 -0700 Subject: [Alexandria-list] Alexandria under OS X In-Reply-To: <20111021213848.45b18b8e@jadzia.dax> References: <1318982743.26314.73.camel@kip-laptop> <20111021213848.45b18b8e@jadzia.dax> Message-ID: <1319243131.32166.59.camel@kip-laptop> On Fri, 2011-10-21 at 21:38 +0100, Cathal Mc Ginley wrote: > Way back, Alexandria was designed to play well on OS X, with a > platform-specific user-interface and everything. Actually, despite what people might have suspected in my original post, I'm glad they aren't using that proprietary platform. I just wish the person I am trying to help was off of it too. > It *should* be possible to install Ruby-GNOME2 on a Mac, but I haven't > seen anyone who's tried it with Alexandria. It sounds like one of those things that probably won't work after several hours of having tried. Even if it did, it's probably too cumbersome for the person I am trying to help to go through. > I'm the current maintainer for Alexandria, although I haven't touched > the project for months due to my own computer problems (now resolved). > I hope I can start putting in some bug-fixes soon. We always love the work you've been doing and I am very grateful for it. If it wasn't for Alexandria, I'd have a lot of books still loaned out that I would have forgotten. > As for OS X support, I don't have access to the platform, but I could > work with someone who was willing to collaborate remotely to get it up > and running. It's alright. I'd offer to help, but I don't personally have access either. Thanks anyways. -- Kip Warner -- Software Engineer OpenPGP encrypted/signed mail preferred http://www.thevertigo.com -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed...
