Hi,<br><br>New BackgrounDrb user struggling for a couple of days to<br>get things up an going.<br><br>System:<br><br>Ruby 1.8.6<br>Packet 0.1.5<br>chronic 0.2.3<br>BackgrounDrb 1.0.3 (downloaded 4/02/08 and 4/03/08)<br><br>I installed the packet and chronic gems as per instructions.<br>I used git to download BDrb as per instructions and ran the<br>rake setup script.<br><br>When I run script/backgroundrb from my rails app main<br>directory, I get the following error: <br><br>/usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/packet-0.1.5/lib/packet/packet_core.rb:145:in `schedule_write': You have a nil object when you didn't expect it! I was able to get<br>the ajax view to update automatically once, and then it no longer<br>update as if the worker was hung. I saw in the archives that someone<br>else had a similar problem and it was recommended to download<br>BDrb from the git repository as it had a fix that might help. I <br>did so (and
removed the old background script that was setup by<br>the svn version and reran the setup script). But the git version does not appeare to even start the background server due to the errors above.<br><br>Any help is appreciated.<br><br>Roggie<br><br><p>
