Message-ID: Hi all, For the past years, also at fosdem, I was feeling little growth in the number of Ruby and Rails projects and jobs and was puzzled by it. Just now, I got the mail below. I Follow this LinkedIn group for a few years now and there where always only a few jobs listed per day, suddenly, there is this impressive list of 40 new Ruby and Rails jobs in 1 day ... Could this be the hockey stick for Ruby and Rails, or pure coincindence ? Peter ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Ruby on Rails Group Members Date: Mon, Mar 8, 2010 at 3:03 PM Subject: From Sean Cilliers and other Ruby on Rails group members on LinkedIn To: Peter Vandenabeele Linkedin GroupsMarch 8, 2010 Ruby on Rails *New:* 6 discussions | 40 Jobs Most Active Discussions (2) *How broadly is Solr being used with Rails apps?* 6 comments ? Started by Mike Malloy Hi Hassan RPM is an app performance tool for both Java apps (like Solr) and Ruby/Jruby apps. Same product can monitor and troubleshoot both kinds of apps using the same account. Sign up for a free account, called RPM Lite, and install our agent inside your Solr app and any other Java or Ruby apps you have. You will be automatically upgraded to our highest level of service (RPM Gold) for a week for free. This will allow you to monitor as many apps as you like. I'm using this little hack I wrote called "daemonz". It starts up background processes when the rails server is spun up, and kills them when the server is shut down. This means the dev environment works just like the prod environment. On the downside, the Rails app does boot up and shut down slower because it waits for the daemons to spawn / die. Just remove the jobs in the aforementioned countries in this list and you'll see what I mean. The Rails job market was quite active in North America and UK even before LinkedIn got its LinkedIn groups :) Though yes, there's a steady slow growth in this part of the world as well.
