As promised, we are planning a hackfest for Selenium on Tuesday night, December 13. Bring a laptop, some snacks to share and a festive mood. All skill levels are welcome (this is a great opportunity to learn). What is Selenium? Selenium is a test tool for web applications. Selenium is written in JavaScript and tests directly against the DOM in your browser. See http://selenium.thoughtworks.com for more info. Jason Huggins, the creator, will be there to give us a short demo and look see before we get started. Why the Ruby group? Selenium has language drivers that help drive the tests. We need help on the Ruby driver. We also need help in other areas if you want to develop in JavaScript, Java, Perl, Python, or any other language. We will have it at the ThoughtWorks offices. I'm not sure if food is going to be provided or not (I'll know by the day before). We will have wireless and wired options for internet. This will be fun! The ThoughtWorks offices are located at 651 West Washington, in downtown (http://rubyurl.com/0vj). Directions: Under normal circumstances you would simply take the Washington exit off of 94/90, but they have demolished the bridge. If you get off at Madison and head east back over the interstate you will see a parking lot there at the first light. The building entrance on Desplains will be open until 7. The elevators will be on until 7 as well so that people can get to 6. After that, please feel free to call Joe at 614/906-1394 and I'll have someone get you. //- -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - // Joe O'Brien, artisan // ThoughtWorks, Inc. // http://blog.objo.com // Y! id = joeobjo, gmail = obrien.joe // cell: 614\906-1394 //- -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... It went extremely well. The feedback I got from others was very positive. Based on the feedback we have decided to include this as a monthly thing. Not necessarily Selenium, but a hackfest in general (although people are always encouraged to work on it). People seemed very happy with having the time to a - socialize and b - be a little more free in what we were doing. One of the ideas floated was to take the regular meetings down to either one presentation or a small set of lightning rounds in under and hour. Then take the remaining time and use if as a hackfest like time. Split into groups, pair up, or work on your own with the ability to tap someone on the shoulder if needed. Message-ID: <292C6D80-8C0F-4EC0-B9A4-A735DC91B0D9@multiply.org> Hi All. I found a way to customize the error handling for rails forms and form elements, but it seems too cumbersome. I haven't been able to figure out an easier way to do this. The issue is summarized on my site: http://www.multiply.org/notebook/ archives/2005/12/rails_view_erro.html Has anyone done this in a simpler way? I worked on adding some images to indicate pass/fail for the tests along with some help from a reg expression guru (sorry, I didn't catch his name). Waiting on Jason Huggins to contact me for the code changes we made so he can put it in the code base. Agree with having more hackfests and meeting/hackfest combos. -----Original Message----- From: John W. It does seem a little cumbersome, but it does work. The good part is that once you customize it for your application, you won't have to do it again. -- John Jason Gessner wrote: > Hi All. > > I found a way to customize the error handling for rails forms and > form elements, but it seems too cumbersome.
