My friend Charles is looking for a Ruby/Rails developer in NYC. Charles is a great developer and digital artist and his new company is doing some pretty fun stuff. You can see some of Charles' work (and some other great art) at http://www.setpixel.com/. If you contact him, or send this along to someone who may be interested, let him know you came from the ChiRb list. Thanks!!! -jason gessner Here is the job description: We need a creative and dedicated developer with experience with Ruby on Rails. This means you know about it, and have messed around with it. Maybe you haven't done any production projects, but you feel comfortable working with it. You should be a solid programmer, generally. Knowledge of Javascript, CSS, and a little design experience is definitely a plus! We are an interesting, sensational, venture funded, social game site. We are looking for a Ruby on Rails programmer to join our team. Our service is currently in the second stage of its development, however, still pre-launch. We are pretty cool people to work with. We have some interesting past experiences that apply to our approach in this business. We offer a very interesting project to work on. This is a full time position. We prefer you to work on-site, however, we might consider someone working from home. It is absolutely necessary that you live in the immediate vicinity of NYC. We offer a good combination of salary and equity. My career started out developing mainframe Apps, but over the last few years I have been working on projects that replace mainframe based CICS apps with web based front ends. My work experience on the web side has been mainly in Java. I completed the Java developer's course at DePaul university in Spring of 2005. In the 1990's I was involved in some Perl CGI scripting, but most of my Perl experience has been as a utility programming language. I have not used MySQL in an enterprise environment, as most of my experience is in DB2. However I am comfortable with the MySQL command line interface and have over a decade's experience in programming with SQL and relational databases. In my latest project I was the development team lead responsible for the software that would convert the client's data from the 1980's era VSAM/CICS system to the new DB2 backed, Java based system. After working with the Java framework for a few years, my experience told me that there had to be a better way. The J2EE structure is overly complicated with to many inter-dependencies. This made some tasks that should be simple every complicated. This frustration led me to discover Ruby on Rails. I attended the RoR training course offered by the Pragmatic studio in Spring of 2006. I have tried to sell my clients on a few implementations, but have not yet been successful. I have been using the Rails framework to prototype some of the relationships in my tables, but have coded the final implementations in Java. Please review my resume, and if you are interested please feel free to contact me. I look forward to hearing from you, and wish you good luck in your search. The presentation would be very hands on and would familarize the audience with selenium, selenium on rails, and the selenium ide. And since Jason will be here we will have a real expert around to answer any difficult selenium questions you might have. josh cronemeyer -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
