[libxml-devel] Sync Trunk to MEM2

MEM2 is now fully merged into trunk by an actual svn merge. I can't  
say I am overly impressed with svn's merge, mercurial has it better.

I will work in the trunk going forward unless I have to work on  
something dangerous.
