Subject: [Weft QDA users] Data loss

I have twice experienced the apparent complete loss of coding data, as well 
as access to the coding category itself.  I am using Weft v. 1.01 under 
Windows XP.  I have diligently saved every time that I coded, but at some 
point, something goes very wrong.

The category appears in the Documents and Categories window, but when 
clicked, nothing opens.  In addition, every document previously coded no 
longer shows the code highlighted in the text.  This is a very 
disheartening problem, and I would appreciate it if someone could explain 
what has happened, and how to avoid a recurrence of the problem.  Is it 
possible to recover this data?

Disregard my recent plaint - all is well!  Somehow the window for the 
coding category got "lost."  I'm still not sure why the highlighted coding 
didn't appear in the previous documents - does the window have to be active 
for the highlighting to be visible, even with the category displayed in the 
drop-down at the bottom?

Cool, I'm glad to hear it wasn't a disaster.

That is strange - the highlighted coding should be visible so long as 
the appropriate category is selected in the drop-down, whether or not 
the window is active. If you can reproduce this please could you send a 
note with further details of your OS and Weft version.
