[wxruby-users] Changing the color of buttons

I'm having trouble changing the color of Buttons in WxRuby.  I'm calling
set_background_colour (and set_foreground_colour) and the calls return true,
but the button remains gray.  

 

In searching the documentation it seems that the problem might be related to
should_inherit_colours, which can prohibit color changes, but the
documentation is confusing.  (Doesn't specify whether should_inherit_colours
should return true or false.)

 

Any suggestions?
